Notebook Buying Tips
Roberto Sedycias, August 23, 2007
Not Rated
Why notebook became so popular? It has been estimated that notebook sales has increased an average of 20% per year in the United States alone. Among the many advantages it offers, portability is one of the main reason people end up making a purchase of it. However before any purchase is made, other features should be considered as well.
Notebook was first made available in the early eighties. Although much heavier and bulkier than today's notebooks, it had the unique portability feature that put this innovative product in a class by itself. Although not much of a commercial success then, it gave the computer industry a goal to pursue in manufacturing this item with better weight, size and performance ratio and making one of today's most wanted computer hardware.

Five Reasons to Love Macintosh Computers
Chris Robertson, August 22, 2007

If you've never owned an Apple computer, you don't know what you're missing. On the other hand, if you regularly use Macintosh computers, you understand that once you have a Mac, you'll never go back. An Apple Macintosh - whether it's a MacBook, a Mac Pro, or an iMac - takes personal computing to a whole new level. I bought my first iMac in 1998, have upgraded twice, and am still happy as a proverbial clam. Here, then are five reasons to love the Apple Macintosh.
1. Cool elegance. If there's one thing Steve Jobs knows how to do, it's designing electronics that are ultra-cool yet beautifully elegant. Why have a cumbersome big box desktop computer when you can have everything you need in an elegant iMac? Behind that clear, bright 16:10 aspect ratio monitor is the entire computer, including a DVD drive and a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor. There's even a webcam built into the iMac so you can video chat or video conference whenever the whim strikes.

Upgrading Computer Memory - What You Need To Know
Grant Eckert, August 21, 2007
Not Rated
If you're someone that uses their computer often, you know when it's time to upgrade your memory. You can tell that things just aren't working as quickly as you want them to be. It might start with your computer simply being unable to run two programs at the same time without troubles or you simply find that programs don't work as well as they did in the past. However, when you diagnose your problem, you need to learn more about memory before you can add more.
Why you need more memory
In every computer, there is a certain amount of memory that is available to run programs you have installed. When you first have your computer, this memory may only be partially taken up. But the more programs you have and more files you have stored, the more of this memory will be used up. When this happens, you will not be able to run programs at the same time because there isn't enough "room" to do so. This can lead to frustrating computer crashes, slowed performance, and troubles with installing new programs.

What is Router?
Richa Sinha, August 18, 2007
Not Rated
A router is a computer networking device that buffers and forwards data packets across an internetwork toward their destinations, through a process known as routing. It is a device that maintains different routes of the network and finds the best route between any two networks, even if there are several networks to traverse.
A router consists of a computer with at least two network interface cards supporting the IP protocol. The router receives packets from each interface via a network interface and forwards the received packets to an appropriate output network interface. Received packets have all link layer protocol headers removed, and transmitted packets have a new link protocol header added prior to transmission.

The History of the Computer
Roberto Sedycias, August 17, 2007
Not Rated
Uninformed researchers of computer (computador) history would probably note the first computer in the mid 1930`s. In reality, this history dates nearly 2000 years ago with the invention of the abacus where the user programmed beads using formulated constructs.
Although many historians caution against the use of the word computer (computador) except to define 20th century computers, a broader understanding illuminates an instrument designed by a Frenchman and which functioned as a calculator and was designed for a tax collector in the 1600`s. Improvements to this calculator continued through the 19th century.

Tablet Pc: The Tiny Device That Squeeze In Notebook Hardware
Jack Triston, August 14, 2007
Not Rated
The challenging step towards shrinking notebook hardware and making improvements in integrated digitisers as methods of input has culminated into the invention of Tablet PC. The touchscreen or digitising tablet technology of the device allows the user to operate the computer with a stylus or digital pen or a fingertip, instead of a keyboard or a mouse.
Typically, a digitiser is integrated with the screen, and correlates physical touch or digital pen interaction on the screen with the result that the virtual information is portrayed on it. A tablet PC’s digitiser is a complete pointing device; it is not a relative pointing device like the mouse or a touchpad. Older Tablet PCs has little or no persistent memory.

Laptops are the perfect educational tool for students. They can handle an innumerable amount of tasks and serve many different functions that allow students to consolidate all of their class assignments and home studies into one convenient location, which simplifies workflow and increases productivity.
The two most important things to look for in a student laptop are portability and battery life. This laptop will likely be carried in a backpack or shoulder bag from class to class, so you will definitely want a system that is light and easy to transport. There is also no guarantee that you will have access to an auxiliary power supply in your classroom or on campus, so you will most likely want a battery that lasts up to several hours per charge.

Laptop Computer - How To Choose
Mimi Merontos, August 9, 2007

One good replacement for desktop PC is a laptop computer which offers larger monitors, more power and much faster processors compare to other portable computers. If you are a frequent traveler or simply a lover of just bringing your things wherever you are, then this is not your type because it is bigger in size which you'll find difficult and not convenient to transport.
In this world today, we are presented with many choices of technology. We can't just simply say yes to all. There were large number of laptops available for us to choose from yet we have to bear in mind to get only what we need.
