White Gold Jewelry: Why It's Stunning!
thehk, August 23, 2007
Not Rated
White gold jewelry is great because it looks fresh. It is quite neutral and understated and thus looks great on most people, which you cannot say about traditional yellow gold. Sometimes traditional gold does not quite fit with a person’s character because it is bold and quite charismatic. However, as I said with white gold jewelry, it is understated and thus should suit almost anybody. While gold jewelry will also fit with most of your clothes. Again, the reason for this boils down to its neutral color. Traditional yellow gold is bold and probably will not compliment your appearance if you are wearing a t-shirt and jeans, for example. This also means that you can only wear your yellow gold jewelry on certain occasions for when dressed a certain why. Again, white gold looks great on you no matter what you’re wearing.

A Pretty Pastel Pink Gem: Morganite Beryl
Reno Chris, August 23, 2007
Not Rated
Morganite is a beautiful pastel gem that is little known and underrated. This pretty pink gemstone is rarely seen offered for sale in standard jewelry stores. For those who do know about it, it is rare enough that the stone is normally considered as collector's type of gemstone. Morganite is a pale to pastel pink member of the beryl family. While it is not a common gemstone, it is a gemstone that is much in demand. Because of its light color, it is not often seen in small sizes, but luckily many pink Beryl crystals are often medium to large, and so good-sized morganite gemstones are cut. As it always is with light-colored stones, the more richly colored specimens are in greater demand. Because of their greater depth, larger stones always show off their color better. The color of morganite is usually a soft pink, but warmer salmon pink tones are also common in this gemstone. It is colored by very small traces of the element manganese, which is incorporated in the crystal structure. Sometimes Morganite it treated with a light heating to remove the salmon or orangy tone, giving only the light pink color.

The bigger, the better. This is the motto of many celebrities who view the engagement ring as a huge status quo symbol. It seems that as each new celebrity gets engaged they strive to get a bigger more expensive engagement ring than the ones before. Of course some of the biggest jewelers endorse this for their name as the designer of a particular ring chosen by some famous figure affects their status incredibly. Especially when the celebrities getting married have an influence on fashion trends. People, more notably the college age group, tend to want to imitate what their favorite celebrity does.

Choosing Diamonds
Steve Morris, August 17, 2007
Not Rated
We measure diamonds using the term carat; this term comes from the word carob. A carob is a bean grown in the Mediterranean, if the stone weight was the same as one carob bean then it was a 1 carob (or carat) diamond. Over time, this weight, which was none to precise, was standardized to 0.2 grams or 200 milligrams. In the far east where no such tree grew a diamond was measured in grains of rice if a diamond is referred to as 4 grains this would equate to what we now know as a one caret stone.

Diamond Jewelry Appraisals - Are they Worth It?
Chris Robertson, August 12, 2007
Not Rated
Since diamond jewelry is considered to be a financial investment, it's wise to include it in your property insurance. Your insurance company will likely require a written description of the jewelry item. A diamond appraisal will define the specifics of your jewelry such as the weight in carats, cut size and shape, clarity, and appraised value. A photo of your diamond jewelry is included with your appraisal as well. Many appraisals today allow for three-year updates to update the value of your jewelry according to the current market since jewelry prices can rise and fall with the economy.
When applying for insurance, you'll know exactly what the value is and how much coverage to obtain if you have a certified appraisal. If your jewelry is damaged or stolen, you'll be able to replace it according to its actual value.

Jewelry Design Can Be So Rewarding
James Kronefield, August 12, 2007
Not Rated
When it comes to jewelry design there a huge number of variations using the almost inexhaustible supply of gems, stones and precious and semi precious metals. Many of the jewelry design experts will work long painstaking hours to create their masterpiece but in my opinion the main factor that makes the difference between an average piece of jewelry and a truly beautiful piece is the quality and look of the gemstone itself.
I am not a jewelry connoisseur by any means but like most of us I do know what I like. While I do love the more mainstream gems like diamonds, rubies and particularly sapphires, I do like to find something a bit more unusual and unique. The beauty of this is the piece is often cheaper than those including diamonds etc.

Designing Handmade Jewellery
pdragon, August 12, 2007
Not Rated
Making handmade jewellery can be an extremely rewarding venture whether your aim is to impress family and friends or even to turn your hobby in to a small business. The small pieces involved and fiddly techniques can however be incredibly challenging and often the most demanding aspect of handmade jewellery is the design process. It is all well and good if you have the patience to sit for hours with a steady hand and construct a piece for yourself but if the finished item turns out to look as ugly as a dog’s back side then the whole process would have been a complete waste of time. The key to avoiding such situations is to plan carefully for the design of the jewellery that you wish to make. Designing a product of any kind requires several areas of basic thought and these will include aesthetics, function and material and so I shall discuss each of these areas in further detail.

You have a style all your own, and you're just not happy settling for the same trends as everyone else. It is possible to find truly unique accessories when you buy wholesale jewelry.
With the Internet, a world of choice has opened for those wishing to buy wholesale jewelry. Thousands of retailers and jewelers offer unique pieces for sale online. You'll find exactly what your want or need, at a very competitive price, after spending just a little time surfing the web.
When shopping on the Internet, you need to be able to appreciate the difference between an online jewelry store and an online wholesale company. Wholesale companies sell jewelry at below-retail wholesale prices. Online jewelry stores, on the other hand, offer pieces that are usually priced slightly below regular retail.

Pearl Necklaces

Although we find variety of jewelry items made from pearls, the most popular are perhaps the pearl necklaces. Depending on their lengths and designs they have been given unique names. Mostly, we find that length is the only consideration when we refer to necklaces but in the case of pearls it is not so. Pearl necklaces are not defined merely by their physical measurement; rather strings of pearls have their own set of names that characterize the pearls based on where they hang when worn around the neck. Popular types of pearl necklaces and their names are:
